Syracuse Chess will offer a chess workshop at the Dewitt Library on Wednesday, December 14 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Learn about the history of this 1500 year old game. Then practice moving the 6 pieces. Discover the meaning of check, checkmate, and castling your king. Beginners learn the basic rules. Experienced players will meet, play chess, and talk about forming a community chess club based at the library. Come join the fun!
Syracuse Chess will host a Family Chess Night on Wednesday, November 18th at the Westcott Community Center at 826 Euclid Ave on the corner of Westcott Street from 6:30-8:30 pm. Admission is FREE. People of all ages are welcome. Anton Ninno of Syracuse Chess talk about the history of chess. He will explain how to start a chess club at your school, neighborhood center, or senior program. The basic rules of chess will be taught. Chess sets will be provided. Bring your own set, if you can. Pizza & juice are included. Call the WCC at 315-478-8634 for information.
